Bhubaneswar - Odisha’s flood situation is showing an overall improving trend, with relief, rescue and restoration operations continuing round the clock. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, six districts, 52 blocks, 227 Gram Panchayats and 503 villages have been affected, impacting around 2.70 lakh people.
As many as 95,206 people have been evacuated and accommodated in 226 shelters, where cooked food, drinking water, sanitation, lighting and medical facilities are being provided. Special arrangements have been made for vulnerable groups, including children, pregnant women, elderly persons and persons with disabilities.
A total of 118 response teams, including ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services, Police and Civil Defence personnel, are deployed for rescue and relief operations. Another 62 medical teams are providing healthcare, while 31 veterinary teams and 22 veterinary camps are supporting livestock.
River levels are showing falling trends at several locations. Baitarani, Burhabalanga and Subarnarekha rivers are below danger levels, while Jalaka is also receding despite remaining slightly above its danger level.
The Special Relief Commissioner’s office is maintaining 24×7 monitoring and coordination with district administrations. No critical shortage of food, drinking water, medicines or response forces has been reported, and additional resources remain on standby.
