Bhubaneswar - Odia girl shines in national level television reality show. Odia girl Jyotirmayi Nayak has achieved great success in the 16th edition of ‘Indian Idol’. Jyotirmayi has made Odisha proud by becoming the champion of the 16th edition of ‘Indian Idol’.
Indian Idol has ended its 10-month long journey with the end of its 16th edition. Odia girl Jyotirmayi Nayak (24) has been declared the winner of the show and Tanishka Shukla from Jabalpur has become the first runner-up. The judges of the 16th season of Indian Idol were Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani and Badsha. This year, the theme of the show, Yaadon Ki Playlist, was so popular with the viewers that the show was given two extensions of three months each. While Jyotirmayi won a prize of Rs 20 lakh, she credited her win to a cancer patient who recovered through music therapy.
Talking about her 10-month journey on the show, Indian Idol 16 winner Jyotirmayi Nayak said, "This journey has been almost a year now. I came to Mumbai on September 14 and it was a great journey. Fortunately, it also paid off, winning the trophy. I never thought about winning the prize money; I only thought about performing my best and getting good feedback. Since I didn't think about money, I don't know where I will spend it; now I will think about it.
