World Maritime Day 2026 was celebrated today at the Odisha State Maritime Museum, Cuttack. Officers and staff associated with the Water Resources Department and the Maritime Museum participated in the programme and recalled Odisha’s glorious maritime traditions and heritage.
On the occasion, a sand-art display based on the theme of maritime heritage was showcased. A poster exhibition highlighting Odisha’s ancient maritime trade, seafaring traditions, overseas trade relations and navigational practices was also organised. In addition, selected historical artefacts and antiquities from the State Museum were displayed, reflecting various aspects of Odisha’s rich cultural and maritime heritage.
