Bhubaneswar - Odisha's startup ecosystem achieved a significant milestone as three innovative startups from the state showcased their indigenous technologies at an exclusive exhibition held at the Cultural Centre of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday.
The startups—GARGI Automated & Robotic Gadget Industries Private Limited, Newrup Tech Solutions, and Urban-Hyphae Bioscience—were selected under the Atal Innovation Mission to represent Odisha alongside innovators from across the country. During the exhibition, the founders also had the opportunity to interact with the President of India, highlighting Odisha's growing presence in India's innovation ecosystem.
Congratulating the entrepreneurs, Odisha's Minister for MSME and Fisheries & Animal Resources Development, Gokulananda Mallik, said the recognition reflected the state's rising stature in grassroots innovation. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha is creating a vibrant ecosystem that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the MSME Department, Rashmita Panda, said the Odisha Startup Policy has played a key role in nurturing young innovators by providing them with opportunities to transform ideas into successful enterprises. CEO of Startup Odisha, Smrutiranjan Pradhan, added that the state continues to support youth and women entrepreneurs through incubation, grants and market access.
Founded by Shital Zemane, GARGI Automated & Robotic Gadget Industries develops assistive robotic technologies, including transformable bed-chairs and exoskeletons, to improve mobility and independence for persons with physical disabilities.
Led by Anup Paikaray, Newrup Tech Solutions has developed CHULIV, an innovative clean-cooking solution that reduces indoor air pollution while improving fuel efficiency, promoting healthier and more sustainable cooking practices.
Meanwhile, Urban-Hyphae Bioscience, founded by Adhiraj Mohapatra, is producing eco-friendly mushroom-based leather alternatives from agricultural waste, offering a sustainable and cruelty-free material for the fashion and allied industries.
The participation of these startups at Rashtrapati Bhavan marks another milestone for Startup Odisha and reflects the state's growing contribution to India's expanding innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
