Kalahandi Man Satyapira Padhan Enters Guinness World Records with 183 Punch Strikes

Satyapira Padhan of Kalahandi district has earned a Guinness World Records title for completing 183 full-extension one-hand punch strikes while holding a 1-kg weight in one minute, representing India.

Padhan made the record attempt on March 8, 2026, following extensive training and preparation. Guinness World Records official recognized the achievement on September 21, 2026.

The previous record in the category was 178 punch strikes in one minute, achieved by Namdar Ansari Gilani of Iran in Tehran on July 22, 2025. Padhan surpassed the mark with 183 strikes.

A native of Deypur village in Kalahandi, Padhan is a physiotherapist with an MPT in Neurology from Utkal University. He has also completed the Basic Mountaineering Course at JIM&WS, Pahalgam, and the Advanced Mountaineering Course at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling.

He received training in Kongosho Goju Ryu Karate under Sensei Sudhir Chandra Chhatria in Bhawanipatna. His record attempt was supported by professionals from martial arts, athletics, sports administration, medical services and evidence preparation.

The supporting team included Sudhir Chandra Chhatria, Sheikh Munawar, Manoj Kumar Biswal, Nirmal Chandra Pradhan, P. Rama Rao and advocate Hitendu Shekhar Rana.

Padhan said the one-minute performance was the result of years of training, practice and perseverance. The achievement has brought recognition to Kalahandi and Odisha on an international platform.
